Business Capability

This factsheet is very close to the standard LeanIX definition. Below is a Channel 4 view.

Definition

Business capabilities structure and describe the essential elements (capabilities) that the channel needs to fulfil its business model. i.e. to deliver value to our customers.

Description

Business capabilities are free of IT language; they are defined in business terms and serve as a common language everyone in the channel (should) understands and refers to. They are relatively stable over time, providing guidance and supporting decision-making in a fast-changing environment - technology (applications, IT Components and Interfaces) and the [[Business Context]] (processes) change much more frequently than the Business Capabilities they support.

See Business Capability Model for a detailed view of all our capabilities as this page is focused on the factsheet for a capability.

Who can create and update Business Capabilities is strictly controlled. If you feel the model can be improved then please contact EA.

A Business Capability encompasses four interconnected components: People (aka [[Organisation]]) , who possess the skills and expertise necessary to deliver value; Processes (aka [[Business Context]], which define how work is performed and managed; Systems (aka [[Application]], which provide the technology infrastructure and tools supporting daily operations; and Data (aka [[Data Object]]), which fuels decision-making and informs strategic planning through accurate measurement and analysis. The components are reflected in the model.

Subtypes
